Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 trial reset
Here is trial reset alternative method for KIS 2010.
This doesn't involve any exe file which smtimes gets detected as virus..
No need to download anything..
Just follow following steps and don't miss a single one.
Part 1:Create REG file
Copy following text into notepad and save it as KasperskyRestartTrial.reg somewhere..
Quote:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertif icates\SPC\Certificates]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\LicStorag e]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyL ab\LicStorage]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography \RNG]
"Seed"=hex:
Note that the icon of this file should look as reg file and not text file.
Part 2:Actual resetting
1. Disable Kaspersky Self-Defense. Open Kaspersky, go to Settings > Options> Disable the item "Enable Self-Defense"> OK
2. Run KasperskyRestartTrial.reg created in previous part.(Click "Yes" then "Ok")
3. Using right mouse button, click on Kaspersky icon near the clock and select Exit.
4. Go to Kaspersky data folder(C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Labs). To go direct, copy the address below. On Windows, click on Start button and run the address below.
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab
5. Go to AVP9 folder and rename the Data folder to any other name. For example 2Data (Rename...dont delete!!!!)
6. Open Kaspersky AV or IS.
7. If Kaspersky remakes the Data folder, then delete the new Data folder it recreated. For this you may have to exit kaspersky again as in step 3.
* Be careful not to delete the original folder from step number 5, because we need it!
8. Rename back the original Data folder to its original name. Start kaspersky again if you exited it in step 7.
9. Select "Enable test version (30 days)"
10. Enable Kaspersky Self-Defense!

Though complicated, I prefer to use this method because there are lot of trial reset programs that do the job with just 1 click but in most of the cases, kaspersky detects those programs as a virus. My method doesn't require any download and exe file.
