The HSW timer was changed a while ago to fix a bug that allowed player to surf forwards in the hsw style (cheating times). This fix changed the timer so that if you press more than 2 buttons at once the timer will switch from HSW back to normal. If you are using binds and trying to do weaves / rampstrafes / airstrafing its very easy to have the surftimer change.
