Is it better to leave it on 300 or do you guys use 999?It feels smoother on 999 for me but sometimes theres a lot of screen tearing with badly optimized maps and when i go around corners everything feels laggy(idk if thats the game or the fps_max),i have 144hz btw
also,when i put fps_max 300 its capped at 289-ish,why?
i keep it at 300, and try to keep the fps at ~300, but it bounces from 290-299, its weird

Do you happen to have V-Sync on? I know that could be a conflicting error against G-Sync.
If you do by any chance have V-sync on, you can disable "Wait for Vertical sync".

And then go to your Nvidia control panel, Look for "Manage 3D settings", find Counter Strike: Source, and scroll down until you see an option for Vertical Sync, turn it off and then Apply settings.

If your lag pursues after this, I don't have a clue.

same, fps_max 300 feels choppy for some reason. I am using fps_max 999 for a while now.
