[SM] republic of china: Initiated a vote.
[SM] "Yes" won with 62% of the vote (10 votes)
[SM] Console: Changed nextmap to "surf_oasis".

As far as I know this is forbidden on the public servers, and just simply annoying. Guess I'll update if he setnext again.

hi i'm "republic of china" there was admins online, my steamID is [U:1:27644135] and I had been on the server for 10 min and set the nextmap on request once (as i'm sure you can check throug logs) lmao, no idea why you felt you had to lie to get your point across. i was not aware this was forbidden and i will refrain from doing it again in the future.
peace

Hi, first of all even setting nextmap once is against the rules, also I'm sorry for blaming you for both times but someone did setnext the map twice, no idea who did it the first time.

you can pay 7$ to litterly fuck up for everyone els. The mute and gag should be removed, SOOOO MANY abuses their powers as VIP's its sad really.. and the setnext should be something that the KSF members can use. I do not mean to take all under a comb, but there are many who destroys the community..

best regards teddyyyyyyyyy.

I must admit, regardless of the situation I don't understand why someone paying a small amount per month should give them the right to mute and gag people. These are benefits that should be given to trustworthy individuals rather than people just paying for these perks. Likewise, if setnext is against the rules on public servers, why isn't it disabled on these servers? If the counter-argument is that "if everyone agrees then it serves a purpose", well just votemap or rtv to change it.

Was the map already on surf_oasis? It's only forbidden to setnext to the same map again.

Sometimes when the server only has a few people on it, i use the setnextmap command too. If people want it, and if most of the players agree, i don't see the harm.

I don't know if the first time they switched to surf_oasis it was with a regular vote or a setnext vote, but after the map was already on oasis they setnext back to it two times in a row (Was played 3 times in a row).

should add a "trusted" system. Make it a rank type thing only obtainable by earning respect and trust from the staff or something. a trusted surfer should be able to mute/gag, setnext, kick and ban up to a certain amount minutes.
its not a well thought through idea, but maybe it could be something worth working with.
peace.

giving the power to ban, mute and gag people just cause youve got some wr's, payed $7,00 per month or cause you somehow got through the ksf application will just ruin ksf.

You can't ban as vip...

but this discussion has evolved beyond just discussing VIP.

Maybe KSF needs a new level of admin rights? A new rank? make some people "moderators" or something. who can kick/mute/gag/ban for a short period of time?

@Sunday, I know, but you make one hell of a mess. I originally meant that the members could ban people. Members with no real experience managing a community. Theyre good at surfing though, mostly.

I guess we'll start asking for cover letters and resume's then. Thanks for the discussion guys.

afaik setnext/changelevel should never be used on public servers, unless timer breaks.

Iirc evolv implemented the rule to prevent new maps being overplayed on the public servers. I've done it myself and seen it happen quite a lot that a map got set again (and again), and I don't see a real problem with that since it's still being voted for by the majority.

The problem is that, in my opinion, the public servers need to have a variety of maps played. If you want to grind a map, go to the more competitive expert or veteran servers. Nobody should need more than 80 minutes for the more casual servers. Sure, if the server is empty then that's perhaps another debate, but if there's any opposition to continuously playing the same map then I don't think it should be allowed on these servers.
