so after a week of trying to work this shit out and then giving up and playing wow im asking for your help.

I tried to copy steam to an external harddrive and ended up moving it instead, cancelled it blah blah blah

didnt work so I deleted steam completely (cry 16gb map folder :( )

now when i try and install steam it says that steamservice.exe is missing from 1cab something

same with repair, ive redownloaded the steam installer multiple times but it still isnt working.

Can you paste the exact error?

Error 1334

The file 'Steamservice.exe.' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Cabs.w1.cab

This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-Rom or a problem with this package.

mmh the error confuses me now but from what u did id say u just gotta do a proper uninstall or clena your registry

Apparently people have very similar errors with different files.

So maybe fully uninstall steam http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki ... ling_Steam (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Cleanly_reinstalling_Steam)
and see where that gets you?
