i can get pretty far in most maps on a good day. however, i'm not able to beat some of the harder ones

That's not your steam ID. In-game, open your console and type 'status' (without the quotes). You'll see a list with your name in it and it will have something like STEAM_0:1:123456789 next to it. That's what we're looking for.
